Chaucer Retreat is a lower ground floor apartment in the expertly converted former Chaucer House Hotel, a local heritage building located directly opposite St John’s Church in the heart of Keswick. Sleeping two, it is a large apartment with its own private entrance and car parking space.
Property Details
The apartment is accessed via its own private entrance at the back of Chaucer House. It has a hallway and cloak area and steps down into a spacious apartment with views of Latrigg and beyond from the lounge/diner window.
It is equipped to the highest standard. The fully fitted kitchen, has a dishwasher, microwave, electric hob and fan assisted oven and a variety of high quality kitchen utensils and crockery. There is also a utility area are with a washer dryer.
The large open plan lounge and dining area has a Smart TV, DVD player, leather suit, coffee table, book case and a dining table with seating for two. Free wi-fi is available.
The bedroom has a king size bed, double wardrobe, chest of drawers and hair dryer. There is a full bathroom next to the bedroom with bath, sink and toilet and there is also a separate shower room and toilet off the entrance hallway. Chose a luxuriant bath after a long walk or quick shower before dinner.
A Cot and high chair is available on request. Towels are included.
Chaucer House apartments are well regarded for the standard of fittings and décor and are located in an ideal position, very close to the centre of town. The Alhambra cinema and the many bars, restaurants, shops and cafes are a two minute walk away. The lake is within a 10-minute stroll, taking you through the beautiful Hope Park Memorial Gardens with mini golf, crazy golf and putting. Launches run regularly around the lake with numerous drop off points.

Directions:
- Travelling west on the A66 towards Keswick from Penrith, take the first exit signed to Keswick and Windermere.
- At the T junction with the A591, turn left (away from town) and follow Chestnut Hill up the hill for approx. 500 metres.
- As the road bends, turn first right onto Manor Brow (sign for Castlerigg Manor) and follow the road down all the way to the bottom of the hill. This road turns into Ambleside Road at the bottom.
- Please ignore any signs stating ‘No Access To Town Centre’ and ‘No Access beyond Church Street’
- Immediately after passing St John’s Church on the left, which is directly opposite the front of Chaucer House, turn right into Church Street.
- At the bottom of Church Street, turn right again into Southey Street and almost immediately right again, before Chaucer Lodge, into the car park for Chaucer House.
- Go up the little rise to the car park and turn right. Car parking space no 3 faces the low wall.
- The apartment has its own front door at the back of the building, clearly marked number 3, Chaucer’s Retreat.
